You should always read the INCI list of ingredients of a cosmetic product. It is a list of ingredients in descending order of weight at the time they are added. But there is an exception: if an ingredient has less than 1% concentration, it can appear anywhere on the label. This allows companies to put „precious“ ingredients all the way on top of the list. We strictly follow the descending order of weight in all our products.

The International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients, abbreviated INCI, is a system based on scientific names and other Latin and English words. INCI names often differ greatly from systematic chemical nomenclature or from more common trivial names.

A guideline to know whether a natural ingredient has been modified or not, is its name on the INCI list. If it conserves the Latin name of the plant or raw material (e.g. Cocos nucifera oil), it has not been subject to substantial modification. If it has been modified or is synthetic the name will be in English e.g. Cetearyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Stearate, etc. Read more
